Heather’s Child is a New Nubian outreach initiative founded by Jonah Sanders in honor of his mother, Heather, whose compassion, resilience, and quiet generosity continue to guide this work. Rooted in dignity, restoration, and love, Heather’s Child exists to support our unhoused neighbors and individuals returning home from incarceration by meeting their most immediate and human needs.
We believe that a fresh start begins with care. Through clean clothing, warm meals, hygiene essentials, and a consistent community presence, Heather’s Child helps people step forward with confidence and hope. Our mission is to remove barriers, restore dignity, and remind every person that they are seen, valued, and worthy of opportunity.
Heather’s Child operates through two unified branches:
- Heather’s Wardrobe — providing clothing, hygiene items, and essentials that restore dignity and self‑worth.
- Heather’s Table — offering meals, snacks, and nourishment that bring comfort, stability, and a sense of belonging.
Founded in a mother’s spirit and carried forward by her son, Heather’s Child stands on the belief that even in the hardest seasons, light still breaks through. Through volunteers, partners, and community support, we work to ensure that no one is left behind and every return home is met with warmth, resources, and open arms.
